I am delighted there has been a change of heart at Calimoto to develop for Android Auto (thats how long I have been waiting!!). I have not abandoned you yet despite other companies / options - but no one can wait forever.
Pl give an approximate ETA.Â
When people change products, history shows they rarely go back - you are losing business / market share. The more people who leave the less revenue you get, the harder it is for you to buy-in the right developers.Â
Part of me wonders if Calimoto is playing us - to keep us on side and keep the revenue turning at your end. There are many other companies offering Andorid Auto - and as I said in a private email to you many years ago, do you really think it is only Apple users who use Calimoto. You are missing out on a huge revenue stream, a selling point that could progress your income stream.
Kindly give us an ETA or come clean that the project will never be completed.
Hi @Eric van den Hout,
Thanks for your honest feedback â we understand your frustration, and youâre definitely not alone. Android Auto is one of the most requested features, and we know how important it is, especially with devices like Carpuride becoming more popular.
As we mentioned above, our Android team is currently deep in the process of switching to a new map system (Mapbox), which is a necessary technical foundation before Android Auto can be added. Itâs a big change that affects core parts of the app like routing and navigation, so we want to make sure it runs smoothly before building the next layer.
We know itâs been a long wait and really appreciate your patience so far. If you decide to stick with us through this season, we hope youâll see that things are moving forward â even if we canât yet give a specific launch date.
Best regards and ride safe,
Hi @Vispi Jamooji,
We have to admit, your message made us smile. Not because weâre playing anyone, but because we definitely feel your pain. If itâs any consolation, no one wants Android Auto more than the Support team. We get these messages regularly and believe us, weâre counting too.
The good news: our Android team has already done some test runs with Mapbox, which is the technical groundwork we need before we can integrate Android Auto. The bad news (you guessed it): this groundwork takes time, because weâre dealing with the very core of the app, navigation, routing, map display, all the stuff that canât afford to go wrong. This isnât a mobile game where a glitch means a pixel in the wrong place. If something fails mid-ride, thatâs a safety issue.
So yep, we get it. This wait has been long and we appreciate that youâve stuck with us. We canât give you a fixed ETA, but we promise: this is not smoke and mirrors. The feedback from our riders gets tracked, tallied, and yes, seen by the whole team.
Weâre not giving up on Android Auto, and weâre doing everything we can to get it right, not just out.
Thanks for sticking with us!
For me renewal of this subscription is dependent on if you are supporting Android Auto. On your website I see nothing about support, other than. It's coming. But here: Calimoto Premium Yearly Membership | A Bike Thing
Any official confirmation of this? Maybe update this article?
Hey @Duncan Roosma - thanks so much for passing this on to us! This was actually new for us too. We donât have any cooperation with âA Bike Thing,â so anything theyâre saying or offering on our behalf isnât legit.
Weâll be updating our article here soon with the latest info on Android Auto support and our progress.
Hi everyone,
Just a quick reminder that the Help Center is here to support riders with questions about calimoto and how to get the most out of the app. We ask that all comments remain respectful and on-topic. Posts that are disrespectful or promoting other apps or services will be removed.
As Android Auto hasnât been released yet, we canât share more details than whatâs already in the article for now. Weâll update it as soon as thereâs news.
If youâve got other questions about calimoto, how to use it, or specific features, feel free to browse the Help Center or reach out to us directly through the contact form above â weâre always happy to help.
Thanks for your understanding and for keeping this space helpful for all riders!
Surprise Surprise.... negative comments deleted.
Me too, I've given up, thanks Calimoto for ... Well yeah, all the rest I think. See you back when you're ready, if, when, maybe, we'll seeđ
I've been a customer of A Bike Thing and watch their YouTube videos regularly... I've dropped them a message letting them know about your comments. They also 'offer' Gift Cards for Calimoto... Are you suggesting they aren't 'legit'?

Hey @Lee Barker -Â thanks for the follow-up!
Just to clarify, weâre definitely not saying that A Bike Thing isnât legit. Theyâve got a great reputation and clearly offer awesome products and services. We just meant that we donât have any official cooperation with them, so anything related to calimoto (like gift cards, promotions, or feature announcements) hasnât been approved or coordinated with us.
Thanks for contacting them, our Management team has also reached out to them directly to clear things up.
I've been using a Chigee since end 2024 and recently upgraded to their new 6" unit - they pushed Calimoto via their Kickstarter offering fairly hard offering free/reduced subscription but as I have an Android phone that's irrelevant to myself. My subscription lapses next month and until such a time as it's fully functional with Android Auto (i used your app for 3 months out of 12 before switching to AA) I'll have to remain elsewhere. The frustation as this thread shows is a need for your product as I'd previously used via my phone without issue and would consider the interface to be the market leader.
i just bought a car play AA screen from our chinese friends, just because the phone i usually have mounted using SP connect to the handlebar is a bit tiny (something to do with age) -Â and was surprised that there was no support from Calimoto to Android auto. As a daily driver all year long Calimoto is my main navigation (although i do not use it much) app for my rides.Â
i have been reading up on this thread - and one would say that after a year of development some kind of ETA should be available to keep users onboard and satisfied.
after reading all this i now feel like a kid that was promised a candy - but nobody said when i would get it, today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year?Â
that leaves me with a question - am i more disappointed that there is no support, or the lack of willingness of calimoto to provide us with a guestimation on when we possible can start to enjoy calimoto on Android Auto.Â
Hey @Diet Bos â we hear you! We know how much riders want Android Auto, and believe us, we want it at least as badly. The tricky part is that this isnât something we can just flip a switch on. Android Auto requires us to fully switch our maps over to Mapbox first, and thatâs a pretty big change under the hood. The good news is that this work is right at the top of our list for the new quarter.
I understand it feels a bit like waiting for candy without knowing when itâll be handed out. The reason we canât share an ETA is that it wouldnât be fair to give riders a date before weâre absolutely sure everything works smoothly and reliably. This is navigation software, not a game, so we need to get it right.
Weâre making progress, but itâs a process rather than a single milestone on the calendar. Your feedback is noted and shared with our team, and we really appreciate your patience while we keep pushing on this.
This is super crucial and needed feature. Please, make it available as soon as possible. I just installed Android Auto unit on my bike and I was shocked this isn't yet available. Thx for making this priority. To give us some concrete hope, maybe you could publish project plan/migration/integration status with progress. Thx
I've been a premium user for a couple years now and have been patiently awaiting AA support. The fact that Calimoto hasn't been able to provide a working solution or even a timeline to Alpha/Beta/GA leads me to believe the following:
1. It's not a priority for Calimoto leadership. If it was, we would have a working AA integration with Calimoto.
2. It's entirely possible that their internal dev teams are incapcable of adding the AA capacity to their core source code to be able to effectivly support ACP and AA.
3. The fact that this thread has origins of more than one year ago, lends merit to the first two points.
While I enjoy using Calimoto and find it a feature rich application, not being AA compatible is a huge disappointment. I prefer not to mount my mobile to the handle bars of my bike as I try to limit exposure to the elements as much as possible.
It's time to start looking at alternatives.
The UI with Calimoto is very good, but 12 months in and no real progress is somewhat of a joke. Try OSMAND+ for ÂŁ39.99 lifetime gives you a very good UI and works with tracks as you'd expect. Very impressed. I no longer need Calimoto
Just tried Osmand, looks promising, however very hard to plan a route. You need like a lot of time to invest. Will test if it has AA support and how the navigation works. So far, Calimoto is the best overall navigation/plan-a-route moto app.
Mario, I use myrouteapp for route design. Works great with that, not used OSMAND for design, purely navigation.
Sorry man, thatâs an even worse app. I donât know how you plan your routes (maybe you just randomize round trips), but thatâs not a serious route-planning app â at least it doesnât work well on my S24 Ultra. OsmAnd is better, but itâs too time-consuming. Therefore, I truly hope Calimoto will step up and deliver the needed and requested features so users donât have to look for alternatives. In conclusion, Calimoto is still the best overall app in my opinion, and Iâve tried more than 20 apps. Calimoto is far from perfect, but as I said, I hope they will step up and deliver â not only Android Auto, but other features as well.

PS: I understand development isnât easy as some may think. The goal, in my view, should be to keep the appâs simplicity while expanding its features. Achieving that balance is close to an art. Also, everyone has an opinion and suggestions â a great app isnât the one implementing all of them, but the one that understands real needs, its users, the market, and the technology.
Mario, just for clarification I don't use myrouteapp for route design on my phone. All done on pc which then syncs to the cloud and your phone.
Thx for the info. I would now end my commenting here, as we went kinda of the topic đ
BTW... I first commented on this 3 years ago. They delete the old comments. At first they said they had no interest in AA, then realised they might, then went from might to it's on the road map, then went to it's a priority. I honestly think they are out of their depth.
Added this bit again for when they delete my original post. Unfortunately, I've lost all faith in Calimoto.

Hi @Mario Marijan AniÄ â Thanks for your message, and yes, we hear you! Android Auto is definitely a highly requested feature, and the good news is that some solid progress has already been made behind the scenes.
The Android team has reached a point where other teams at calimoto can now test how the app performs on Mapbox. Thatâs a big milestone in the overall process, since the Mapbox integration is a technical prerequisite for Android Auto.
That said, weâre still in the Mapbox phase, and itâs crucial that everything runs smoothly and reliably before we can take the next step. As soon as thatâs the case, thereâll be nothing in the way of finally moving forward with Android Auto.
We really appreciate your patience and feedback, and weâll keep working hard to get things rolling!
Hey @Woody â We completely understand your frustration, and you're definitely not alone in wanting Android Auto. As mentioned in some of our earlier replies here, it is a priority and progress is being made, even if it's not always as visible from the outside.
We hope weâll be able to share more concrete updates in the not-too-distant future. In the meantime, thanks for sticking with us this far, and for taking the time to share your honest thoughts.
Hello @Andrew Dickerson  â Thanks for your message. Just a quick note that we do remove comments that are unconstructive or that promote other services, and you may notice some comments from below have been deleted for that reason.
That said, your feedback touches on a broader point thatâs been raised by others as well, and weâll leave it here for now as part of the ongoing discussion. Thanks for sharing your perspective.
@Andrew, I tried OSMAND today very extensively. I've planned a route (350 km) and hit the navigation. The app in short sucks!
Yes, it has some potential; voice navigation is great - instructions, it's even supported on my language (Croatian) but the route navigation sucks. It lead me to unpaved roads, toll roads which I explicitly said "NO". There is no "skip point" option and if you go off the planned route, it keeps "recalculating" and rotating map, like 360, every 10 seconds. If you don't touchpoint desired route/point, it keeps navigating to that same place, round and around. I ended up in dead end roads, lost like whole hour fighting with the app. After 3 hours in total, I just turned it off. When I got home, I uninstalled it. Yes, the app has some great options and features, but main function doesn't work how it should. For A to B navigation it's great!
Therefore, Calimoto is still the best overall route-planning, navigation android app!
Lol ... In spite of being mainly about another app, for some reason I think this last comment will not be deleted by Beth đ
Mario that reads like someone who works for Calimoto. It's unusable on Android Auto.Â
And here we can see the true nature of people. Great example. Thumbs up
That's my thanks for all my effort and time to contribute to the community.
Fun fact, I did offer them to help them, they ignored my offer đ
Your contribution was a gushing review of Calimoto on a thread about it's complete absence on Android Auto. It doesn't matter how good it is, it can't be used if you don't want to strap your Android phone to the bars
