It's absolutely shambolic that more than a year since this thread was started, still no sign of AA support, and Calimoto is not even prepared to make a statement around it's estimated release date. In the meantime the world is moving on, more and more people are adopting the dozens of android auto / car play systems on the market designed for motorcycles and Calimoto are losing out to the competition who already got their act together with AA compatible apps such as MyRouteApp. Definitely a Kodak moment for Calimoto - a good lesson on how to make your business irrelevant.
@downerhouse it is much longer... somehow it says 1 years... my first message in this topic is approx 2 years ago... It would be great to see AA support. But I've stopped my subscription last year after seeing the same type of reponse over and over again. Getting the same type of response on support tickets with questions about AA.
It is great to read that the conversion to a new platform has been done. That AA is in alfa... but I first have to see it with my own eyes, as an Android user i've been feeling neglected and found other solutions offering AA support, offering at least the same options calimoto does. I first need te be convinced calimoto does a better job before i'll switch back.
Hey @downerhouse, @h.a.visser,
we understand where the frustration is coming from. Android Auto has been one of the most requested features for a long time, so it’s completely fair that many Android riders are eager to see it finally arrive.
The good news: it’s not far off anymore. Android Auto is already in alpha and we’re currently working through the remaining steps to get it ready for release. We still can’t share an exact date yet, but it will be coming soon — and we’ll update you here as soon as we can communicate something more concrete.
Thanks for your patience and for keeping the feedback coming.
Coming soon but can't share a date yet. Can't be that close.
Hello @DiavelDes,
thanks for your comment. We understand that “coming soon” can sometimes feel a bit vague.
What we can confirm at the moment is that Android Auto is planned to be released within Q2. Our team is currently working hard to finalize everything so we can make it available to the community as soon as possible.
Thanks for your patience and for being part of the calimoto community. 🏍️
@claire - That sounds positive, so current ambition "released this quarter" means by end of March 2026? If so thats great news. Maybe you can update the article at the top of this page.
⏳ When exactly will it be ready?
We can’t give an exact release date just yet. However, one thing is clear: Development is ongoing, and we will keep you up to date on the progress.
I started jumping around... 25 days and counting...
Hello everyone,
thanks a lot for your enthusiasm, we can definitely feel the excitement here.
Just to clarify: Android Auto is currently planned for release in Q2 2026, not by the end of March. We know many of you are eagerly waiting for it, and our team is actively working to bring it to you as soon as possible.
The Help Center article is currently being updated so that the information there reflects this more precisely.
Thanks again for your patience and for the energy you bring to the community. We’re getting closer. 🏍️
Hello @aco636,
thanks for pointing that out and sorry for the confusion here. My previous wording was a bit unfortunate.
To clarify: Android Auto is currently planned for release within Q2 2026, so not by the end of March. The Help Center article is already being updated to reflect this more clearly.
Thanks for flagging it and for keeping such a close eye on the updates. We really appreciate the engagement. 🏍️
Thx for the clarification. I truly hope that it'll be rather sooner than later, as season for me already started at least for the commuting part. Looking forward 👌 for the update 😀
Hello @Tragonfly,
thanks a lot for your understanding and for the kind message. It’s great to hear that your riding season has already started, even if it’s “only” for commuting for now.
We completely understand that many riders are eager to have Android Auto available as soon as possible, especially once the season begins. Our team is working hard to bring the feature to the community as soon as it’s ready within Q2.
Wishing you many safe and enjoyable rides in the meantime. 🏍️
So, available "This Quarter" has already become "Sometime in Q2" meaning another 3 month delay (aka end of June, half way through the riding season). Lets face it, no-one believes it will be sooner based on the last 2+ years of broken promises. Not having a go at you @Beth as you can only rely and the BS the end bells up the chain feed you. You have always tried to be honest with your responses and we are greatful for that. A thankless task for a company that clearly does not care about its subscribers and promises made to them. I will not be renewing my subscription when it runs out in July if this is not FULLY available. Not that they care about losing business as there are so many other options now while they've been sat on their backsides!!!
Hi there!
We understand the frustration around this topic and how much many riders are eagerly awaiting Android Auto.
Just to clarify one point: the recent Help Center update was actually the first time we shared a concrete timeframe publicly. When we say Q2 2026, it means the feature is planned to arrive within that quarter at the latest. Development is well underway, and the team is working hard to bring it to the community as soon as everything is ready.
We really appreciate the honest feedback and the passion around this feature. 🏍️
So if there is Alpha testing at present? Would we see a closed Beta in the very near future where users could take part and help in the test phase? I for one would be willing, being retired I am riding just about everyday of the week.
Hi Terry,
That sounds like a fun way to spend the week! I'm a bit jealous... Back to your question: there is no public Alpha testing. The beta program (in general, not related specifically to Android Auto), on the other hand, is open and available for every user through the Google Play Store. If you want to get beta updates in the future, you may register for those there.
I have watched this thread since it began. I would like to say that though we are frustrated with the development process and vague responses, we all appreciate the thankless task from the media team who have to deal with the (albeit warranted) frustration of us who refuse to use Apple. It seems the world revolves around Apple products, and we on Android are often forgotten about, which is sad and concerning, as good company marketing should target all audiences and not the select few who go with the norm.
However, I am like many who have brought an aftermarket navigation device to protect my expensive Samsung device from vibration damage. It is good to know that Calimoto is finally taking us seriously and has finally given a roadmap for a potential release before the riding season comes to an end (based in the UK). I just hope that Calimoto can match the effort they have put into the Apple play system and that other companies can start taking AA user more seriously. I'm sure Calimoto have connections with other companies, a message needs to be sent to them too regarding us AA users.
@Kuma13 Like you I am dissapointed about the time it is taking to deliver the AA version because I am going on a trip in May and had hoped to have it by then. I am also concerned that Q2 will become Q3 and we will see the release toward the end of the nice wether in the UK.
But fingers crossed - "Navigation with calimoto via Android Auto will be possible by Q2 2026."
@Kuma13 I agree with your comments 100% mate. And the media team (Beth / Claire etc) have a thankless task trying to get us real updates. My bigger frustration is that the competition, including recent additions to the market, already support Apple and Android out the box. As a senior developer myself, this just wreaks massive oversight or incompetence from the dev team (no offence intended but come on guys). No-one targets a single platform in the last 10+ years. I do love Calimoto but I want my phone OFF the dam bike and have a proper Smart Device ready to go.
The only 3 Smart Devices that are actually Android and could support Calimoto on their own, do NOT have proper secure mounts available and require 3 or more cables to be disconnected to remove it while away from your bike. I've shouted at (well asked) two of them about secure or quick release mounts and one is acting on it, but can't confirm a release date as it might require a revision of their current hardware. So screwed again for now.
@aco636 I seriously have ZERO confidence Q2 will happen at this rate mate. Like you, I'm just waiting for the next round of excuses before Q3 or Q4 announced?!?! Guess we'll find out shortly.
I really don't want to encourage anyone to abandon the good ship Calimoto but have a look at Motobit fully AA compatible right now.
I tried Moto it last year but found it to be less than useful.
Hey everyone 🙋🏼♀️ - we hear you. Really. And we get the frustration/annoyance around Android Auto, especially if you’ve been following this thread for a while now. Thanks for sticking with us anyway (and the understanding for the Support team here!).
You might have noticed that quite a bit has been changing recently, especially since the switch to Mapbox. We know not everything landed perfectly. The trash can topic has not gone unnoticed, and zoom is another point we’re actively working on. So yes, the Android team currently has a few things on their plate at the same time.
That said, Android Auto is very much in full development right now and already being fine-tuned. We’ve got people out on real test rides regularly at the moment to make sure things actually hold up on the road, not just on paper.
From where we stand right now, Q2 still feels realistic. And if not… well, we have a saying in German that I’ll happily quote here: I’ll eat a broom.
We also really appreciate the way most of you are pushing this topic. The nudging is fair. Just one small ask from our side: let’s keep this space focused on calimoto. Comparisons with other apps don’t really help us move things forward here.
Thanks again for your patience, and we’ll keep you posted!
Focus on Calimoto? Ok. Two years of development that other players managed 18 months ago. Android users paying the same as Apple users for two years for only part of the functionality. Calimoto, the biking season has started here in Europe, are you being fair to this community of Android bikers by wanting to limit discussion to your failure?
I move away last year, to another solution compatible Android Auto.
I lost my phone fiew years ago when it was on my handlebar ... don't want to lost another one. When i purchase may 2024 new motorcycle (Harley Touring), it came with Android Auto / Carplay system. So start using the default GPS app from it, and using a PC to copy my route from Calimoto, to the other system.. that was not as good as i was expected. So the next year (2025), was tired waiting, so find out fiew option out there.. and as any Software vendor.. they are all came with "Trial".. so after testing fiew of them, end up with something that suit my needs.
I'm still curious to see how may years before Calimoto went out with a real working application !
Can it be true? We have a Beta tester update with Android Auto!!! Lets hope its not an April fool joke :)
We will start testing it this weekend!
It launches on my Chigee AIO-5 with a pixel 10 pro and Android Auto! Will be testing this weekend! Thank you!
I'm in the public beta program and downloaded the latest version yesterday, and today had my first ride using it on my Android Auto screen. Firstly, well done guys - it worked reliably, provided turn by turn navigation and recorded the whole ride.
However for me it's missing some essential functionality from the phone app - namely my current speed, and the current speed limit of the road I'm on. Will this be surfaced in a later version?
Used it for a couple hundred miles on friday and today, its very good, a few issues that ive noticed is
current speed and the speed of the road would be good to show the major one is the speed of the road
also i found that when i turned my bike off and the carpuride im using disconnects sometimes it seemed to auto end my ride, id much rather i have to turn the ride off no auto ending, was a little annoying as id set up a round trip with a via point, we got to the via point and then when my screen turned off my ride ended
My first opportunity to test the new AA version. Great step forward, well done @calimoto..
A few issues, I had to manually open calimoto on the AA device (Chigee AIO 6). I also notice it did not sync with the phone. I had previously started a route on the phone and expected the AA device to pick up the current route. Instead, I had to close Calimoto on the phone and restart it on the phone and then the AA device worked/sync'd.
I notice a few turns were not announced
I'd also like to see speed limit and current speed. Other than that, great to see the progress in Q1. Well done ..
I’ve tested it as well. I’m really happy that things have finally moved from a standstill. It’s completely understandable that there are still some open issues that need to be resolved — that’s what a beta version is for. I’ve noticed that when I lock my phone screen, AA also stops, which isn’t okay. The display of current speed and speed limits, as others have already mentioned, still needs to be added. My battery didn’t drain during the test, which I’m very happy about. I hope these small refinements get sorted out quickly. The season is slowly starting here.
Best regards to the Calimoto team and everyone else in this forum.
Hi Again, some more feedback for @Calimoto. On the AA device, without an active route, the map does not track with current location. although I noticed the position marker moving on the map at the start of the journey, the map does not change from the start location and so the current position marker goes out of sight.
It would also be good to have a larger (current) position marker as it was very small and difficult to see when you are moving, etc.
