Group Rides: How to Plan a Group Ride

Want to hit the road with your biker friends for an exciting adventure? Check out our handy Group Rides feature (Beta)!

Here's how it works:

  1. Plan a new ride or open an existing one. If you’re creating a completely new (round) trip, make sure to save it first!
  2. Open the 3-dot menu next to the ride, either in your ride list or directly from the map view. Select the option "Invite others to the ride."
  3. Enter the calimoto username of your friend(s) you want to invite, and confirm with "Send."
  4. Once your invitation has been successfully sent, you'll find it in your rides list under "Group Rides." The ride will still appear in your other lists as usual.
  5. Below, you'll see a list showing the organizer and all co-riders. Once you have checked everyone, open the ride by tapping on "View on the map."
  6. Get the ride started with "Start navigation." You can then decide whether your location should be shared with the group during the ride.
💡 We recommend keeping location sharing enabled for a better group riding experience and to stay safely together. To do this, select "Share location and take off."
  7. Set off with your group and enjoy the adventure! 🏍️

🔵 If your co-riders have also shared their location, you'll see them as blue dots on the map. Please note: For this to work properly, everyone needs a stable internet connection and good reception. Riders must also be in motion for their locations to update in real time.

Please note:

Since the Group Ride feature is still in the Beta phase, there may be minor issues or bugs. If you spot any errors or have suggestions for improvement, feel free to contact our Support team. We appreciate your feedback and wish you a great time on your group rides!

  • When modifying a shared route (to extend or shorten for instance), is it still possible to resync the route with the other riders without completely leaving the ride?

  • Hi @Michiel84,

Great question, and you’re definitely not the only one who’s asked about this!

At the moment, it is technically possible for the ride organizer to make changes to the route during a group ride, but those changes unfortunately aren’t yet automatically synced for co-riders. We’ve heard from users that this can cause confusion if one rider takes a different turn and the others are still following the original route.

This is something we’re aware of and it’s already included in our internal feedback collection. The Group Ride feature is still in its Beta phase, and improving how changes are shared and handled is one of the key areas the team is working on.

Thanks again for checking in about it, and every bit of feedback helps us make it better!
