GPX stands for GPS Exchange Format — a widely used file format for GPS navigation systems and devices. It’s an open format for storing geographic data related to routes, and while calimoto supports it, we did not develop it.
With calimoto, you can export your rides in three different formats:
- GPX — the most widely used format.
- ITN — for older TomTom devices.
- KML — for use with Google Earth.
A completed ride is exported in calimoto as a GPX file based on the track points. On Android devices, these points include timestamps that always reflect your current time zone — regardless of when or where the ride took place.
A planned ride is exported as a GPX file and consists of via points and route points. These via points are linked to calimoto’s own routing system. The number of route points is capped at 750.
Please note:
Via points will stay in the same order when you export a ride. However, when you import, a GPX file into calimoto, the via points may be repositioned intelligently. This means re-importing a GPX file you originally exported from calimoto could result in a somewhat different route.
