Discovered a road closure while on your ride and need to adjust your route?
Here's how:
- Open the Ride Options (three bars in the bottom left) during navigation.
- Tap on "Bypass closure."
- Select the length of the closure (500 meters / 0.3 miles to 1 km / 0.6 miles).
- calimoto will automatically reroute you to bypass the closed section.
Here's how to remove a closure:
- Reopen the Ride Options.
- Tap on "Remove Closure."
- calimoto will guide you back to your original route.
➡️ These detours are not available online for technical reasons. They are temporary and not added to our map data, and are specific to your current ride. Only one closure can be active at a time. Be sure to deactivate a detour as soon as it’s no longer needed.
Important:
Adding a closure will permanently remove any Via Points from the affected section of your route.

The last two rides I have taken were interrupted by 2 Different Different Rd. closures. If I block them using this described method, does it remember at the next time I take a random route? It’s starting to cause me problems as the roadwork intensifies. I don’t believe that Google maps has this issue.
Hey @ Rick Hemmert - First of all, I’d like to apologise for the delayed response; We're finally catchip up on our backlog here in the Help Center and will be doing our best to answer promptly from now on!
Unfortunately, the blocking process you mentioned only applies to the current ride. It’s designed for those quick roadworks that aren't yet included in our maps. For longer closures that are not yet shown on our maps, we recommend adding them to OpenStreetMap, which is where we source our map data. Once these closures are updated in OSM, they will be included in our next map updates.

While on a route, we encountered a gated private road that was not identified as such in the app. Is there a way to notify about these things to improve map and navigation accuracy?
I want to say the road closure feature is great. I was leading a ride on a section of road that was new to me when I hit a closure in a rural area without options but to go back the way we came. A couple clicks and a new route was calculated so fast that the riders behind me thought I knew where I was going. I didn't know the feature existed, but it was so intuitive that the ride was back on almost as soon as I knew there was a problem.
Hey @alphagearhead - first of all, sorry for the delayed reply. We’ve had a lot on our plates recently, but this is a great question to answer here in the Help Center, as it may help other riders as well.
Our map data is based on OpenStreetMap. If a road isn’t marked there as private, it may also appear as a routable road in calimoto. The good news is that OpenStreetMap is a community-driven project, so anyone can contribute and help improve the map data. If the road is correctly marked as private there, the change will be included in one of our future map updates.
If you’d like us to take a closer look, feel free to contact us directly using the contact form at the top of this page and let us know which road you encountered. We’ll be happy to check what we currently see in our map data and point you in the right direction if an update is needed.
