Have you completed multiple rides back-to-back and now want to merge them into one epic journey? In this article, we'll dive into whether it’s possible to combine rides and explain why it’s currently not a simple, straightforward technical task.
Why is merging rides an issue?
Here at calimoto, we want to keep it real – real rides, real experiences, ensuring the reliability of our trip recommendations. Allowing merged rides could compromise this reliability, as it becomes difficult to verify whether these combined routes were genuinely completed and if they’re even realistic.
Another important factor is the continuity of your ride. When a ride is paused overnight or spans several days, technical challenges can arise. Since we don’t control your device’s background activity, unexpected incidents could lead to the loss of ride data.
Technical challenges
From a technical perspective, merging rides isn’t simple. Start and end points of different rides usually don’t align, making it difficult to seamlessly connect them. To offer this feature, we’d need to develop complex algorithms to handle routes with varying start and end points – a challenge that is not easy to overcome at the moment.
What's the plan?
At the moment, we don’t have plans to introduce a ride-merging feature. However, that doesn’t mean we’re not listening to your ideas! Our priority is to keep the app reliable and top-notch for you. If you've got ideas or suggestions on how we can boost your experience, feel free to contact us via our Contact Form. We value your feedback and look forward to hearing your thoughts on making calimoto even better.
